Musigny, Cuvée Vieilles Vignes, Comte Georges de Vogüé, 1990

Great food wants to be paired with great wine. With Robuchon’s famous truffle tart, try a glass of this fabulous Burgundy from Le Musigny, a Grand Cru vineyard site. A full-bodied ruby red Pinot Noir with a potent, musty nose, this might need decanting before it’ll fully reveal its charms. Very smooth on the palate, elegant but intense, powerfully acidic and tannic, with flavors of earthy mushrooms and bright cherries and a long, lingering finish. Perhaps a bit bold on its own; perfect with one of Robuchon’s truffle tarts.
